Summit Chorale Appoints Accompanist
Summit Chorale is proud to announce the appointment of Douglas Keilitz as its principal accompanist beginning with the 2005-06 season. Richard Garrin, music director of the chorale commented, "After weeks of searching and auditioning to find the right match for our chorus, Im so happy to have such an accomplished keyboardist and musician sharing his talent each week."
Keilitz also serves as organist and choirmaster at the Church of Saint Ignatius of Antioch, an Episcopal church in the Anglo-Catholic tradition located in Manhattan, where he conducts a professional ensemble specializing in Gregorian chant propers and Renaissance-period Mass settings and motets.
Douglas Keilitz has been playing the organ since the age of 12, when he was inspired to take up the instrument after hearing a performance by the renowned Virgil Fox. He attended the Mannes College of Music and is currently doing advanced study with concert organist Stephen Hamilton in New York. He is an active organ recitalist, performing concerts in many of New Yorks landmark churches. Keilitz has participated in numerous master classes with organ luminaries, including Marie-Claire Alain.
Keilitz will be making his debut with Summit Chorale in the groups upcoming pair of concerts, All That Hath Life and Breath, on November 19th, 8:00 PM, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 587 Springfield Ave., Summit, and on November 20, 7:00 PM, at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 111 South St., New Providence.
