Summit Chorale invites experienced singers to audition

Summit Chorale invites experienced singers in all voice parts to audition for the two major concerts remaining in its 2005-06 season. On March 4, 2006, the Chorale will present two exciting 20th century works, Poulenc's Gloria and David Conte's Invocation and Dance, both with chamber orchestra. Conte is Professor of Composition and Conductor of the Conservatory Chorus at San Francisco Conservatory of Music. An outstanding figure in the world of contemporary choral music, Conte has received commissions from Chanticleer and the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, among others.

The Chorale's season closes with a pops program of music for the stage on May 20, 2006. Under the inspiring leadership of Music Director Richard Garrin, singers polish their vocal technique with a conductor who prepared the Chicago Symphony Chorus. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at the United Methodist Church of New Providence, 1441 Springfield Ave., New Providence, NJ, from 7:30 PM to 10 PM.

Interested singers are invited to attend an open rehearsal on Tuesday, November 29, at 7:30 PM. Auditions will be held by appointment only on Thursday evening, December 1. For audition requirements and information about the Chorale visit www.summitchorale.org. To make an audition appointment, call membership director Ellie Winslow at 973-762-8486.

Funding for Summit Chorale is made possible in part by the NJ State Council of the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts through a grant administered by the Union County Division of Cultural
& Heritage Affairs.
